Travel Tip:
Africa in Scotland - a unique route

You might ask yourself - What does Africa have to do with Scotland?

Well...not much, it is the complete opposite to be honest. But we decided to call it "Africa Route" simply because of the shape of the route when you look at it on a map.

It's one of our favourite routes in Scotland, which we want to share with you. On a road recce last year for a client we discovered "little Africa" in Scotland and must say, the drive along the route itself and the places you will see are absolutely breathtaking.

The drive itself takes about 5 hrs but this does not include any stops at local attractions such as Kilchurn castle, a Whisky distillery visit or any lunch stops /coffee breaks or to simply explore the area and enjoy the breathtaking scenery. We recommend giving yourself two days or even three - ideal for a short weekend break. And we are pretty sure, even people from Scotland haven't been to some of these places yet...

The roundtrip could start from anywhere on the route but with most people arriving into Glasgow (or Edinburgh) we recommend starting from there. The easiest way to find a rental car would also be from Glasgow or Edinburgh Airport or Glasgow city Centre. You can drive either clockwise or anti-clockwise. The route takes you through The Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park and along the west coast of Scotland. There is so much to see and do on the way, depending on your interests. From the challenge of clay pigeon shooting, the thrill of off-road driving, exciting castle visits perhaps with romantic picnics, of course with entertaining Whisky distillery or brewery tours and tastings to add to the mix....not to mention some fantastic restaurants which serve delicious local food such as the Loch Fyne Oyster Bar.

Looking for an upgrade?

How about a luxury chauffeur driven MPV or 4x4 or an overnight stay at a boutique hotel or modern private cabins such as KABN Suites at the shores of Loch Fyne? These luxury off-grid cabins with stunning views over the loch opened end of 2020. In addition we are also able to create a mouth-watering Champagne picnic or bespoke surprises on the way to make your trip a unique experience you will always remember.
